BO & BUN PIK JAKARTA

With Jakarta has been raining almost everyday lately, it is comforting to find another Vietnamese restaurant open at PIK. Bo & Bun is a franchise of the one in Bali, specializes in Vietnamese food located in a row with Chir Chir and Sushi Hiro.

I instantly like the interior and exterior of Bo & Bun. The exterior with brick walls kinda look like a barn, in a good way. Stepping inside, the place was small but the chandeliers came as a nice touch, give an intimate good feeling, while glass window has always been a good idea for natural light. Love it when a restaurateur put a length of gesture in creating a good ambiance on the interior as well instead of focusing on food only.

Bao Gao Pork Belly IDR 65.000,-
Twice cooked pork belly on steamed buns with crushed peanuts, pickled cucumbers, hoisin sauce, fresh coriander and chilli.

A good appetizer to start with. The steamed buns were amazingly soft and fluffy with tender pork belly in the middle. I asked for extra coriander to bring out more flavors and I will suggest you to do so too. Yum!

Korean Fried Chicken Wings IDR 55.000,-
Double fried with spicy Korean sauce, sesame seeds, and fresh coriander.

Not a fan. The chicken was too marinated resulted in too sweet flavor instead of spicy.

The 12 Hour Pho IDR 90.000,-
Beef broth, sliced tenderloin, sliced beef shanks, beef meatballs, rice noodle, coriander stems, sliced onions, side of fresh bean sprouts, chili, Thai basil and lime.

Unfortunately, for me their pho didn't really give any strong flavor on the broth. It was mild and less fragrant, but the toppings were incredibly tender. Personally, if I want to do a quick comparison on the pho only, I'd still prefer NamNam's.

Pad Thai IDR 75.000,-
Rice noodles, shrimps, eggs, crushed peanuts, fried tofu, dried shrimps, scallions, lime and beansprouts.

I am someone who never find Pad Thai to be good, but I like their quite much. It was very fragrant, especially after I squeezed out the lime on top of it. Definitely brings out a different overall taste.

I can't really say much based on first visit, there were some good dishes, yet there were some that I feel need to be improved. Nevertheless, their padthai is the bomb and I am not hesitating on coming back for it.

Thank you for reading!
